Barack(ed) the vote

No doubt, history is made. So was a joke:
Swap the 's' and 'p' in Sara Palin and you get what...?
ParaSalin as in parasailin. get it get it, hilarious
Kris also did this to our door:He also defiled everybody's dry erase white board by inscribing "We got a black president"
After Obama won, part of the school was going crazy. There was this group of Obama crazies marching around school yelling "Obama!" during his speech, which is kinda disrespectful if you ask me. I'm glad that Obama won this year, hopefully it would spark more political interest in the future. Diddy did a great thing with the 'vote or die' campaign. I just believe that every election should be taken as serious as this. I heard a statistic today that like more black people voted before 10 A.M. today than the whole day four years ago. Something like that.

It is such a bad time to become president right now. It is amazing how we as a nation trust this one person to revive the country. I personally feel safe with Obama at the head. Now we just have to wait until Obama replaces Bernanke in two years. Then all will be well in the land.

Young Jeezy's "My President is Black" and that slightly annoying Obama remix of "A Milli" will be on repeat by people with loud speakers for at least a week.

say it ain't so

Last night, Lupe Fiasco announced that his final album was not just an ordinary album. also a performance of superstar that started off acoustic and just took off on the last verse. wonderful

did you see the dude's face at 5:35? creepy, what do you think he was for halloween. My guess is one of those aztec warrior guys from the latest Indiana Jones movie.

I'm also starting to get into Pokemon cards again. I found my old cards and I'm going to make a cool deck and battle.

Politik as Usual

My mouse ran out of batteries so I can't play Starcraft effectively, so I'll blog.
This is basically what we went to a couple weeks ago:

X & Y - Z

$8.99 pomegranate juice
I was waiting until like 4 in the morning for this to be available to download on illroots. I was actually doing an essay but also waiting at the same time, refreshing the web page every two minutes. It never came out so I eventually went to sleep. Then when I woke up, tried to download this but it kept crashing. Then the viva la hova blogspot finally put its own sendspace link and I downloaded it from there.

Life of Clocks is way too short, it needs two more minutes!

I installed Starcraft on my computer so I'm going to play that a lot now on my free time.

The Seed

Before we get to the concert, I'll ramble on about what is going on in my life... cuz, that is what my blog is about right? 56K-ers BEWARE!

- Well, I've just discovered Norwegian Recycling thanks to Christopher and I am in love with it. Mashups like I have never heard before. Totally Awesome! Listening to it 24/7.

- Also can't get enough of the IMDB message boards on Quarantine, which turns out to be a complete remake of a different spanish movie called [REC]. Both are totally scary, but also almost exactly the same. There are so many theories on who the final monster was. SPOILER ALERT kind of. So far, the most believable claims are: 1) It was the man from Boston and the kid was somebody he captured and tested on, 2) Mr. Boston captured a pregnant woman and tested on her and released the virus because he was part of a cult and fled the apartment complex and the monster is the woman and her child. Sorry, yea, you gotta watch the movie to understand.

- Trying to refrain from using the word "hella" again. It's hella creeping up on me.

- Ryan Grant finally scored a touchdown and my fantasy football team might be starting to look to a better future. Problem is that I played and benched the wrong people this week and might lose to the team that is in last place this week.

- Not doing homework right now to blog, then eat dinner, then watch Heroes.

Now the concert:
I am still not the best photographer but after a couple more concerts, I will be a pro. But still, my weak Glow In The Dark Tour photos do not compare with these.

ESTELLE: I was playing with the settings on my camera during her performance so I ended up with like 90% bad pictures and 10% good ones. By the time I got the settings right, she was almost done.
Estelle getting down on stage

GYM CLASS HEROES: I have the most pictures of these guys because by now, I had all the right settings and was ready to shoot. The only thing is that some tall people popped out of the ground in front of me out of nowhere.

Travis McCoy
Wallpaper worthy? If all the heads were gone!
THE ROOTS: I didn't get as much because at this point in the concert, my battery started to die out. It died before the concert ended. I wish so hard right now that I recorded that whole 10 minute performance of You Got Me. It was such a cool performance. This is the closest picture I got of ?uestlove. I tried to snap him on the drums but zoom on my camera sucks bad. His lower body is so much bigger than i expected. I don't believe he is proportioned correctly. That tuba guy rocked it on stage

SPECIAL GUEST: Mos Def in da house! He's so great. no homo
Surpise!

COLLABORATIONSEstelle x TravisThe Roots x EstelleGym Class Heroes x Estelle
there were so many people on stageThe Roots x Mos Def

This was only my second concert, unless you count the ones we go to for church. But compared to the Glow in the Dark, I think this one was much better. The only things Kanye had over this concert was that I knew like 95% of the words at GitD and sang along to all the songs, I got a better T shirt, and everybody got the book full of "Kanyeisms". But in this concert, I was a lot closer to the stage, it was less than half the price of GitD, the location was right at school, I came out with more + better pictures, there was a surprise guest, and the collabos and throwing out drumsticks at the end made the performers connect better with each other and the audience. Both concerts were awesome though.

There was a live band for all performers and it was like a hip hop/jazz/rock concert. I was in awe during the guitar, piano, drums, and tuba solos. I wish I caught one of those drumsticks ?uestlove was signing and throwing out to the audience. Gym Class Heroes performed When Doves Cry and The Roots did Sweet Child O Mine.

BTW, "Kanyeisms" is not underlined in red, so is it a word? Mr. West has done it again...

Jimi

I've struck gold again! If you've been reading this petty blog since the beginning, you would remember me winning 50 DOLLARS CASH and talking about it in my second blog entry.
(when checking for authenticity on that last sentence, I went back in my blog to see if it was really my second blog entry and I found this picturenothing special right, just a regular church costume carnival thing right, wrong, check out Erik's hair, anyways, back to the topic)
But as you can tell, I didn't win a prize of equal caliber but a prize is a prize and I'll take it happily cause When It Came To Gettin Mine I Aint Tryin Ta Argue. So I guess I haven't struck gold, more like bronze. btw, I chose the movie ticket of course. I gave you the story last time so here is the story on this one...
I was listening to an album called Licensed to Ill and I just wanted to know more about it for some odd reason and so I used the not as efficient as google but funner search engine Blingo, which was my homepage since 06.

Then this unsettling image popped up onto my screenWhat is up with college football? The first seed is constantly losing... maybe USC will be able to claim the top spot again. O yea, if you haven't heard, San Jose State beat Utah 30-7! and we have the 22nd best defense in the nation according to Yahoo. Really wanted to go to this game but chose to go back home instead. How wrong of me. I really want to go to our next home game against boise st. but it is on the same day as our fellowship special. that sucks. thanks chung... The next game I'll probably go to is the last of the season against fresno state.

Blingo for prez!

Cool

Check it out. it doesn't say Barack Osama on mine.

SCenARio

Past:
Did you know that the 2008 olympians actually stayed overnight at San Jose State to get processed before leaving for Beijing?

Present:
Did you know the New England Patriots used San Jose State facilities this week to practice for their upcoming game against the San Diego Chargers?

Future:
Chuck D will be the featured Key Note Speaker on thursday october 16 for a lecture engagement on the legacy of Tommie Smith and John Carlos in the Morris Daily Auditorium at San Jose State.
so chris... if you come early you can see chuck D
the above line sounded really gay

Should find time to go to LA for this:I also got my voting stuff today, my polling station is at Our Lady of Mercy in Daly City. I think I'm going to come back to vote in person because I want those "I Voted" stickers

I be hatin on armadillos

New shoes!
at least 50% off at Azuki and Purist today! Great sales, both because of one year anniversaries. Went to Azuki first and there was a hella long line inside. It was crazy, I was in line for about an hour. There was music blasting and piles of nudies in one corner of the store. The place is big enough to fit everybody so it was packed. Even one and a half hours after they opened, I knew I was late because there was nothing there despite the huge piles of shirts on the tables. Then it was off to Purist which turned out to be quite the opposite. I don't remember any music playing and it was not full of people. Less shirts but more jackets. Here is what I ended up with:That's all.
The Purist bag matches my shoesPurist's sale lasts until 10/19 so they will be restocking until then. You can read about Purist and its owners here:
http://hypebeast.com/2008/10/hypebeast-essentials-purist-boutique/
I've also decided to come home tomorrow instead of staying over, I did not pack enough boxers and stuff last week.

Octo bear

Wow, a full month of school done. As I rip September off my giant wall calendar, I see "Speech", "Final Draft" and "Midterm" all written in big black sharpie letters on certain days and I know this month is going to be hard. Did I mention that there are no holidays.
My demonstrative speech was supposed to be on Monday but time ran out and I go first today. I'm kinda glad that I got pushed back because my topic goes well with the theme of October. My speech is "How to make a jack o lantern" Not really ready, but am I ever for anything? For my visual aid, I made this:Tight huh. College is good, can't go into every detail. Stuff happens every day but there is really no time to record it on my blog. Have fun with this entry guys, I won't be blogging for a while because of school. For a couple weeks at least, but don't stop checking...

x-large

Went Go Kart racing yesterday before fellowship. Hung out with old friends. Duuude, I miss all them peeps. Not pictured... rae, ana, sara, jacky, lawrence, mon. jimmy has pictures of them, still not pro at this camera stuff. Saw martin and michelle later on in the day too.
Fun funwho dat ninja?0-100 mph in 6 seconds or something like thatThen on our way to Martin's house, I guess Jimmy was still in go kart mode and spun his car out with me in it. Praise God we are both ok.
Here is a post we spun into and broke:
the sign reads: Clearance 15" or something like that, so it's not important. I guess it's ok.Can you see that small dent? (Click To Enlarge)
Then it was off to fellowship and D&A.
I left my head sock in your car jimmy. I want it.
